Battle Royale

I saw Battle Royale for about the fifth time last night. It never gets old… I think this one was a ‘director’s cut’ version or something, because there were a few scenes in it that I definitely hadn’t seen before. There were lots of clips from a basketball game and Mitsuko’s story was fleshed out a bit more too.

Anyway, since I’m still figuring out how word press works, I’ll take this opportunity to try to add a TouTube video. It contains the spectacular lighthouse scene, and some of the following scene with Noriko and Kawada in the forest. Nothing very dramatic happens after about six minutes or so, so feel free to skip the remaining four. Since my review of X-Men 3 has drawn angry responses, I should point out that, because this clip contains a section of the film, viewing it will reveal aspects of the story.

Update: Goddamnit, I can’t get that video onto the page. Does anyone know how to add YouTude videos to WordPress blogs?

    The embedded link?

You’ll need to use some htlm to embedded it. You tube has a copy and past section for that so you can copy the code and paste it into the input area for wordpress. Should work

I’ve tried doing that but it doesn’t work. When I add the embedded html it screws up to layout and no video appears. Maybe I need to add extra code at the beginning and end of it. This was so much easier on Blogger…

Do I need to add a plug-in or something for embedded videos?

You need to turn off the rich visual editor, its a pain in the behind.

Battle Royale was great. Haven’t seen the sequel – is that any good?

And the rich text editor is annoying alright… nice theme btw.

No, the sequel is terrible. Apparently the director died half-way through filming it and his son finished the job. It’s really bad. The acting is poor in places and the story is ridiculous. Granted, the original BR’s story is a bit silly too, but the sequel’s is really, really stupid. There’s also some concept running through the film, some high-minded idea about fighting for a cause, which doesn’t make very much sense.

Thanks regarding your comment on the theme. I can’t take all that much credit for it though; I just selected it. Gavin had to set it up.
