Colbert Again

Those of you who read my blogspot blog will remember that it was virtually taken over by Stephen Colbert in its final days. I’ve been trying to avoid posting more on him, because frankly he makes everything else I blog about seem very boring and mundane, but I couldn’t resist this short clip in which he completely pwns some southern congressman.

Either the guy Stephen’s talking to, Lynn Westmoreland, is incredibly stupid, or this clip was edited in some way. Or maybe Westmoreland decided to play along and make a fool of himself. There’s a discussion/argument about it in the comments section of the Video (double-click it to see them). I’d be inclined to think that it’s a mixture of four parts Westmoreland’s idiocy to one part selective cutting, because I can’t believe any politician would agree to make themselves look this ridiculous.

I was going to add another Colbert video just for the sake of it, but this one actually has something to do with the previous one.

Given that this is the standard of America’s news channels, maybe Westmoreland’s stupidity isn’t so surprising.

I’d be slow to call him a political commentator. That sounds a bit too serious for what he does. I think him and Jon Stewart are more like political commedians. Not that I don’t think they’re both great.
