Martin Amis on ‘The Age of Horrorism’

There’s a thoroughly excellent essay by fiction writer Martin Amis in today’s Observer. It’s essentially a robust attack on Islamism, and to a lesser extent Islam, from a liberal perspective. It’s very long for a newpaper piece, but it’s well worth reading. You can find it here, for the time being at least.

It’s not bad as a piece. I have issues with it, especially with regards to the attitude it takes to suicide bombings, he treats that action as though it’s a uniquely muslim thing – forgetting that the Israeli’s pionerred it and the Tamil Tigers perfected it. Still it’s worth the look.
On a seperate topic, have you been able to reregiseter for your choices yet?it wont let me on the student info network..
I think that Muslims are considered the main proponents of the tactic (suicide bombings), and it would be going off the point if he were to discuss other groups’ usage of it since the article is about Islamic terrorism.
I haven’t been able to, no. I thought that it would work today, but it hasn’t.
