Agreement in Northern Ireland Talks on Something

That ‘something’ however, is nothing to be welcomed. The one thing that the terrorists in Sinn Fein and the bigots in the DUP can agree on is that they should exploit their current situation to milk London, Dublin, Washington and Brussels for all they’re worth. Apparently the fiends want billions of pounds just to form a government like political parties do in any other country. A senior DUP source quoted in today’s Irish Times said that “this is the time to exert maximum leverage, not later, and we are talking about a package of billions, not millions, over a period of time.”
Can somebody please tell me when sorting out Northern Ireland’s many, many problems became the responsibility of everyone besides the people that live there? Why on earth should tax payers in the rest of the UK, the Republic of Ireland, the United States and the whole EU have to stump up so much money in order for this country’s leaders to do their jobs? UK tax-payers get hit annually to the tune of about £8 billion just to keep the wretched country’s damn economy ticking over, so how can Adams and Paisley have the nerve to demand more for sitting in government together?
There’s only so much other people can do to solve one’s own problems, and Northern Ireland’s politicians will never have sufficient incentive to work together as long as their economy is propped up by normal countries. What good reason have Adams and Paisley to stop dragging their heels if the country they’re meant to be running is continually bailed out by Britain and others? Perhaps the real reason they’re so recalcitrant in their pursuit of co-governance is that, were they ever to form a government together, they’d have to come up with some constructive ideas and do things by themselves, and maybe, just maybe, they know damn well that they’re not up to the job.

well in fairness the sinners are socialists so….
and i havnt ever heard much about the dup’s actual policeies but im guessing right-wing fascicts(SP?)/ fundamentalist so i figure other peoples money might be the only thing that turns the country managable…..
It’s understandable enough that they both want to plunder other countries’ goodwill while they can, but eventually they’ll have to come up with some workable plan for their economy. I’m not sure that the DUP have any actual policies besides ‘Not an inch’. It seems that such sloganeering goes down far better in the North than any real ideas.
