Friendship

Posted on October 26, 2006 - Filed Under Life-In-General |

Friends are people who invite you over to their house, ostensibly because they have not seen you in a while and would very much like to talk to you, only to, immediately upon your arrival, ’spontaneously’ realise that they have an awful lot of empty bottles that need recycling and that, since you are such an advocate of environmentalism, and the owner of a car, that very moment would be the ideal time to bring the bottles to the bottle bank, or rather load up your car with them and let you take away their waste for them. Such good friends can be relied on to offer well-intentioned constructive criticism to you while they fill bin bags with the bottles, such as letting you know that they think you’re a whiney bitch for not helping them fill the bags and for worrying that the mixture of beer, whine, slime and putrid water smeared on nigh on every bottle will leave a foul stench in your car. One friend then proceeds with you to the bottle bank, conveniently situated near the gym he was heading to anyway, while the other, the one who invited you over, just says bye and walks back inside his house, no doubt satisfied that 10 minutes of your company was worth tolerating for the sake of an empty-bottle-free house.

That is friendship, isn’t it?

    I sympatise but I can’t stop laughing…

Actually I haven’t seen you in ages and do not have a pile of smelly rubbish I need to move. Alosha will be back soon for his mothers birthday and probably drinking with us, so maybe i’ll see you then?

Perhaps. I don’t really drink anymore though.

i’ll be back from the 4th to the 6th(morning) I wouldn’t mind seeing you too cian, i’m sick of imagining a friend as a personification of a blog. I cant say I approve of these friends’ of yours behavior. It seems to me in fact that theyre just using you for your car.

Nice use of the word whine.

I thought we had a lovely time. And our house is much nicer now without the bottles.

I think it’s ironic that you spelt wine the way you did.

Get over it, it was just a mesh of conveiences. We didn’t use you, you did us a favour and then bitched about it.

Also, if you’re not used to us slating your personality, views, opinions and belifes then we HAVE been apart for too long, i’d like if you came over and we spent more time together. I have a load of laundry that needs sorting.

    Untill then, make mine marvel.

I hadn’t noticed the mispelling. Maybe it was a Freudian slip.

I don’t intend to drop by your house again. My life may be relatively pathetic, but I’ve better things to do than deliver your rubbish to bottle banks.

I’m not sure I understand quite what you mean by that, but thanks for the comment nonetheless.
