Nice Article on Donald Rumsfeld

So the Democrats have taken the senate by now too. The first casuality of the Republican collapse (besides the candidates who lost their seats) has been Donald “Rummy” Rumsfeld. There’s a reflective piece on the language of his tenure as Secretary of Defense (including his memorable “unknown unknowns” exposition) here, and it paints him in rather charming light. Here’s a excerpt:
“It was Rumsfeld who warned that he didn’t want to see “a smoking gun from a weapon of mass destruction”. And it was Rumsfeld who, asked why America was using cluster bombs, said: “To try to kill them … to be perfectly blunt.”
You never appreciate someone until they’re gone…
