The Incomparable Importance of Humour

There’s nothing like laughter for hauling one out of a bad mood, or at least nothing so easily accessible. Having the spent the whole day feeling acutely unhappy, watching a Stephen Colbert clip has just improved my disposition considerably, thus sparing everyone reading this from some downcast monologue about how awful life is.

Of course, not all ‘humorous’ things have this effect on me, mainly because most ‘humorous’ things are anything but funny. For instance, I cannot see any part of a ‘Shreik’ film without feeling a sharp sense of disgust, not only for the cretins who made it, but also, or even especially, for the cretins who like it. Of similar recoil value is every ‘Simpons’ episode for the last 5 years. That once funny programme has become so downright shit that it’s borderline unbelieveable.

While I’m complaining about things, who the hell buys things from spam? Surely the vile fiends who spread spam across the internet would not do it if the endeavor did not bear fruit, so some assholes must be out there buying the cheap valium, viagra, etc… spam emails flog.

Clearly, I’m not out of the doldrums yet, but I’m still feeling better than earlier. I need more Colbert, followed by a strong dose of Jaroslav Hasek.

Also, is anyone drinking this weekend? I haven’t had alcohol in way too long.

Actually, the fine people at FHM had a feture where they went out and bought a whole rake of stuff from spam emails. They tried all the pills, pumps, creams, lotions and ointments for various stages of erectile disfuntion and all they got was a nasty rash and mild hallucinations.

    Yes, I read the articles.
