5:39am and miles to go before I sleep

I’m 2,130 words deep into a 2,000 word essay on interest groups in American politics. So far I’ve provided an historical overview, as well as explaining the ways in which they undermine US democracy. The thing is, I believe that they play an ultimately benign role, so I’ll now have to make the case for that view. However, I’m really tired right now and my writing (by which I mean composition) is going further to hell with every minute I remain awake.
So I better get going on the next thousands words.
Update 1: 7:37 a.m., 2366 words, running on very concentrated instant coffee, weird sugar substitute, fine dark chocolate (it was just lying there on the table) and salted peanuts (salt is needed to maintain electrolites or some such things in the brain, I think I recall O’Hurlihy telling us all back in 6th yr Biology). I feel remarkably content, given the circumstances. My defense of corrupt vested interests is coming along nicely too.
Update 2: 7:38 a.m., barely 200 words in 2 hours is remarkably shit going.

I did the same essay – took the opposite view tho, well more a centreist view…. still tho, isn’t it bad form to be that much over words-wise?
Probably. I don’t think Neil Collins will appreciate it very much. It ended up being 3448 words in total, including quotes but not footnotes. I don’t think it includes footnotes anyway. In any event it’s over with now. I still haven’t slept and I feel very unwell.
3448!! you’ll never see that again.. heel just claim he lost it rather than having to read it you know….
