Car Accident

I drove into the back of another car yesterday, causing 2,109 euros worth of damage to my own vehicle. Thankfully the other guy’s car escaped the incident unscathed, and hopefully I won’t be hearing anymore from him (I gave him my name & number, just in case you think I sped away after the collision).

I’m not sure what to do about my own car. The options are:

1. Claim the repair money from my insurance company, which will cause the premium to sky-rocket for next year,

2. Leave it the way it is, with a smashed in bumper, dislocated headlight and bent bonnet,

or 3. See if my dad will pay for it.

Early indications suggest that my dad won’t bail me out of this mess. He already generously pays for my insurance, so he’ll be unlikely to welcome a hike in that either. I don’t have anthing near enough money myself, so it looks like it’ll be option 2, at least for the time being.

Can anyone recommend a cowboy mechanic who can hammer my car back into shape for a very small fee? Or, failing that, does anyone want to donate to the ‘Repair Cian’s Car’ fund?

Maybe think about getting a job? Even if it’s for one hour a week your parents would see it as you trying to fend for yourself and more then likely will feel more inclined to help you out. Also, cowboy mechanics are everywhere. Not worth the hassle though in case they rip you off etc. Try going to the place you bought it and talking to them? I don’t think it’s legal to have only one headlight working either too.

It still works, it’s just dislocated.

I found a guy who’ll do it for 1,300 euros, so things are looking up, relatively speaking.

You’re right, I really should get a job. I’ve arrived at this conclusion myself already.
