Even if it's for one hour a week your parents would see it as you trying to fend for yourself and more then likely will feel more inclined to help you out. Also, cowboy mechanics are everywhere. Not worth the hassle though in case they rip you off etc. Try going to the place you bought it and talking to them? I don't think it's legal to have only one headlight working either too.
