A few short points

Posted on January 30, 2007 - Filed Under Life-In-General | 1 Comment

I haven’t been posting regularly recently, so in an effort to amend matters here’s a composit post of few different items.

1. When I sit down by myself at an empty table in the student centre, why do people come along and ask are the other seats taken, and then sit down on hearing that they are vacant? There’s a woman sitting right across from me now because of this rude custom. When I’m on my laptop at a table, I want that table to myself. You don’t barge onto an occupied table at restaurants, so why do it here? Fucking bitch…

2. Here’s an article from the New York Times that I liked. It’s from a correspondant looking back on the events of the last few years before departing the country. It’s well written and adds a personal dimension to the violence that is so regularly reported from the nation and which I had come to think of as almost nothing at all.

3. Ze Frank v. Stephen Colbert. I’m undecided as to who is the funnier of the two. Here are two excellent recent examples of their work: The Show with Ze Frank; The Colbert Report. A little prior knowledge of both shows may be required to fully appreciate them.

4. Cheers for the awesome suggestions in response to my last post.

5. I’m going to my lecture now. Sorry about the fractured nature of this post, but at the NY Times piece is good. Follow the other two links for lulz.

    1. Why not? Assuming there are no free tables. You’ve got one person maybe taking up maybe 4 times as much space as necessary. Nobody likes it, but it’s hardly fair to claim an entire table if you’re not using most of it and someone is hovering around with a tray fo food that’s going cold.
