Some People Are Unbelievable

From a comment left on this blog after a post abput Al Gore’s documentary ‘An Inconvenient Truth’:
Al Bore’s so-called documentary is a myth. He is from the same cloth as the lefties of the 60’s and 70’s who tried to scare us with over population and food shortages by 2000. Well here it is 2007 and the scare tactics are still the same, just a different subject. Blowhard Gore.

Well, what’s the problem? Sure, you disagree, but is that so unbelievable?
While the comment posted is inflamatory, seemingly not very well informed, opinionated, doesn’t cite sources and whoes very first sentance is a falacy. ’so-called documentary is a myth’. It’s not a myth, it really is a documentary and the movie does really exist, I’ve seen it myself! I still don’t think you have any right re-posting it as an attack. I’m sure you could come up with some easy retort to it all without stooping to name calling. He has a point, scare mongering is a well established tradition in society. Just because this one is real doesn’t shake off the ‘boy who cried wolf’ factor.
He does make a good point. Some people were wrong before, so Al Gore is wrong. Q.E.D.
Well okay, “unbelievable” is the wrong word, but I find the comment very disconcerting because it reflects an attitude that considers global warming to be an issue like gay marriage, where there are for and against arguments and it’s really all just a matter of opinion. This view seems particulary prevalent in the US, where plenty of people on the right seem to think that climate change is some vile hoax designed to damage the US economy.
climate change wont affect them. they have the money and means to buffer it , if and when it happens. Its future generations it will effect, which frankly, is an understandable reason to bury your head in the sand. If it wont effect me why bother losing money over it? or even, the money i save by ignoring it is enough to by a suit of tin foil and a solar panal in the future with change. maths.
or math even.
