Bad Night in Shanghai

I was meant to meet some friends of my dad’s the other night in Shanghai, but didn’t after a series of mishaps conspired against me. I left an acrobatic performance in Shanghai Stadium early at about 9, intending to get a Taxi and meet the people for 9:30. However, I couldn’t manage to hail a cab (I must have waited in a dumb place), and ended up paying a motorcyclist to bring me there at about 9:35. When we arrived at about 9:42 or so, he told me that the fare was 30 yuan, not the 3 yuan I thought we had negotiated (30 yuan is about 3 euro – not a lot, but way more than it ought to have cost). Anyway, there was nobody to be seen when I went inside, so I waited for about 35 minuted before leaving with a steaming coffee, which I soon preceded to spill on my hand. I had a hell of a time getting a taxi back to the hotel too. Meanwhile, the rest of the group were in a rock bar lulzing it up, before catching a fleeting glimpse of Korean R’n'B sensation and arch-foe of Stephen Colbert, Rain, getting into a limo outside a hotel and driving off as Anthony ran after him.

I wouldn’t bitch like this were it not for just seeing an email from the friends of my dad, which says they waited for three quarters of an hour before leaving.
