Transformers

Seldom have I seen a film so bad and yet so brimming with awesome.
I was an avid Transformers fan as a kid, so when I heard that Michael Bay was directing a Transformers film I was annoyed, given the director’s track record for making awful movies (which somehow manage do well at the box office). It turns out that most of my fears were justified; ‘Transformers’ is cheesy, childish and flat-out idiotic in some places. However, for all its flaws, it still kicks ass.
The main attraction of any movie based on the Transformers franchise was always going to be lavish battle sequences, and in this regard ‘Transformers’ delivers in spades. Less expected, but wholly welcome, was the level of humour on display for much of the film. Around midway through the film there is a sequence where the Autobots call around to the main character’s house and have to hide in his back yard from his suspicious parents. It sounds lame, but surprisingly provides a solid five minutes or so of sharp comic relief.
For all its merits, unexpected or not, ‘Transformers’ has unignorable faults (clichéd characters [e.g., a slightly geeky male main character who displays courage, a hot girl who falls for said character, an outrageously sexy science boffin] and predictable plot formula being the main problems). On the other hand, it has Transformers fighting each other in generally glorious CGI. My head says it sucked, but the little kid inside me who used to battle his toy Autobots and Decepticons says it rocked, and who am I to disagree?

It was fantastic. Sure, the humans were just there to make jokes while the transformers weren’t on screen, but you can’t really make a serious movie about giant robots can you?
star wars?
Star wars wasn’t that serious. It was taken seriously. It’s really just a western.
Meanwhile, I haven’t seen the film but I’m going to have to fork out in order to see hot science girl on the big screen. You could crack an egg on those cheekbones.
I would very much like to sex with her…
Blade Runner, ffs!
