The Terrible Thing About Blogging
Posted on January 19, 2008 - Filed Under Blogging |
Blogs are like online journals, with the important difference that everyone can read blogs, whereas journals are typically only read by their owners. However, once you start blogging after having kept journals of some description previously, then there’s a natural tendency to write about much the same stuff in both. This becomes a problem when you feel like writing your mind, but rather than pouring all your anger, despair or glee into a private journal it spills onto the all-too-public interwebs via your blog. Related to this a inclination to deal with events in your life by posting YouTube videos of songs that capture your sentiments to some degree. Again, this is a really dumb thing to do, but in the past I’ve done it quite often.
So from now on this blog is becoming much more apersonal. Rather than responding to something by posting a clip of Alkaline Trio’s bassist performing solo acoustic, I’m going to write about it instead, and keep it to myself.
Internalization ftw…
