Dr. Boland Redux

This is the latest idea to take my wavering fancy. It involves taking a GAMSAT test, which I know little about, and which I would have only until the 15th March to study for. Since I’m such a glutton for punishment these days I find this challenge oddly appealing. I’ve no idea how difficult it would be, but it sounds like the science component would be no cakewalk for an Arts student. Thus I’d have to study like a dog and hope that very few people have heard about this course (the 20 places are allotted on the basis of GAMSAT score). And I’d have to ask my parents to help me pay €12k per annum for something I could have done for free had I wanted to three years ago. And I’d have to spend 4 years busting my ass studying in UCC, Cork. And I might not even like Med once I got into it, if I got into it. And regardless of whether I’d like it or not, I’d feel wretched if I applied for it and then found that I wasn’t good enough to make it in.

But still, “Dr. Boland”…

You do realise you get the Dr. if you do any kind of PhD though…

I don’t want a PhD in Philosophy or Politics.

The graduate degree is four years, which probably means it’s a hell of a lot of work.
