It looks like Giuliani is well and truly finished. While I’m on the subject of the GOP, now seems as good a time as any to announce that this blog is rooting for Mitt Romney in the Republican nomination race and in the general election too, should his opponent be Hillary Clinton.

I’d say he’s polling somewhere between 9 and 11 per cent.
Interesting decision to go for Mitt — I’m leaning that way myself after being a Rudy guy. He may actually be more electable than McCain if America falls into recession, or even slumps close.
I think the more people see of Romney the more they’ll warm to him. Despite all the pandering I still think that he’s fundamentally a decent enough fellow, and his record as a CEO suggests that he’d make a better fist of running the economy than any of the other candidates.
Having said that, I’m still in the Obama camp.
