Dr. Boland II

Having emailed the guy in charge of UCC’s grad med programme a few times, I’m not so sure I want to do it now. It sounds like the grad med students would be pretty much cut off from the main med course, and there’s a big emphasis on self-directed learning (as opposed to lecturers) which might not suit me so well. On the other hand, even if the course sucked and was no fun at all, I’d still get to spend four more years in college, and I’d still get to be Dr. Boland. So there are still grounds for pursuing this further, at least for now.

I’m not sure “spending more time in college” and “adding Dr. before my name” by themselves necessarily constitute grounds for considering something. Rather, seems more like they ought to be the bonuses you would get as opposed to the primary advantages. But that’s just me…
Well by “get[ting] to be Dr. Boland” I also meant that I’d have an interesting and well remunerated job… There’s more behind this ambition than vain obsession with a prefix.
all of medicine if self directed. Too much to learn to do in lectures. you Just need to get loadsa books and read them.
Also,in terms of the ’3 more years in college’ you do realise that you would have NO life… Med students tend to be unseen for a reason…
Yup, and you’d be way off campus in brookshite where you’ll be cutting up zombies and such.
I agree with brian, you want prestige not to save people. Go be a cadet.
i resent that. I have a life. Its just very busy so we cant ass about campus as much as arts students. Need to cram in hobbies, sports, releationships, friends, drinking and naps inbetween class means that you dont get to waste hours on campus drinking coffee. Besides, i still get some wasting..
