Dick Cheney is a Stupid Asshole

He’s being writing more blank cheques to Israel on his latest visit:
Mr Cheney said the US would never put any pressure on Israel over issues he said would threaten its security.
Speaking in a press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, he described America’s commitment to Israel’s security as “unshakeable”.
Mr Cheney will visit the West Bank town of Ramallah on Sunday for talks with Palestinian leaders.
“America’s commitment to Israel’s security is enduring and unshakable, as is our commitment to Israel’s right to defend itself - always - against terrorism, rocket attacks and other threats from forces dedicated to Israel’s destruction,” Mr Cheney said.
“The United States will never pressure Israel to take steps to threaten its security.”
To be clear, I don’t have a problem with the US underwriting Israel’s security (although if I was a US tax-payer I might have something negative to say about this one-way arrangement). What I object to is the language Cheney uses here. If there’s ever going to be peace between Israel and the Palestinians then there has to be a fair compromise, and Israel will never agree to such a compromise unless the US holds its feet to the fire and strong-arms it into painful but necessary (and entirely fair) concessions. Flying into Israel and saying “we’ll back you up, no matter what” doesn’t bring peace nearer; it pushes it further away. You know that America is doing something seriously stupid when Hamas start sounding reasonable:
Hamas spokesman Fawzi Barhoum called Mr Cheney’s comments “completely biased in favour of the Israeli occupation”.
He said they confirmed that the US “is a partner to Israel in its war against our people and against the Gaza Strip”.
Given Cheney’s asinine remarks, it’s hard to argue with the guy.

You do object to Israel having any allies, don’t you? Cheney speaks the way an ally speaks. Of course, I wonder about your friends.
The only thing that is needed is for the arabs to accept a free and independent Israel. But they won’t because they’d rather die in garbage than live as the beaten dogs that they are.
What you want is for Israel to be beaten non-militarily while the arabs get off scot free for all the terror they’ve committed.
Hamas and the PLO both demand the dismantling of Israel through the introduction of the “right of return”. It’s not going to happen. They can return to Jordan if they want , that’s the real Palestinian State.
