… but there’s something very awful about this sentence from a circulated student email:
In addition, there will be various food options on campus.
The words “various food options” should never run together like that. It’s just wrong, and a grave affront to the English language.

I understand your annoyance. Obviously, the sentence should read: “In addition, there will be various food options on campus, none of which will be palatable in the slightest, given the state of campus catering.”
