I feel like I’m going to get sick. 2 years after playing support to the Foo Fighters in an open air gig, Nine Inch Nails are now set to make their only Irish show of their current (and quite possibly final) tour… an appearance at Oxegen, that cancer of an Irish festival that’s full of terrible bands and audiences who, well, don’t really know anything about music. I mean, look at this! They add NIN to the bill but decide not to bother changing the poster? Are NIN not even headlining the day they’re playing (I had to read in The Ticket that it’s Sunday)? I understand that The Kings of Leon and The Killers are popular bands, but are any of Snow Patrol, Blur, Bloc Party, Razorlight, The Pet Shop Boys, Elbow, or Keane (yes, fucking Keane!) really going to come onto a stage after Trent and his band have played ‘Head Like a Hole’ and launch into their weak-ass ‘rock’ music? Well judging by the Oxegen site’s billing, yes, that’s exactly what’s going to happen.
This is bullshit. Oxegen is a shit festival and it will always be a shit festival, so I’m not really that annoyed with the organisers. How is some asshole who listens to 2fm all day long going to know what to do with a NIN slot on a festival roster? Instead, I’m pissed off with Trent Reznor. The only support gig he played on the last tour was that Foo Fighters show in Dublin (true, NIN were on before the Pumpkins at Reading/Leeds, but they also played lots of proper UK dates). Now, it looks like the only chance Irish fans are going to get to see his band will be in another open-air venue, surrounded by Killers and Snow Patrol fans. I mean, at least the Foo Fighters are a real rock band!
It really would have been better if Trent had decided not to play in Ireland at all. This Oxegen date is a fucking joke, and there’s no way on Earth I’m going to it. I was planning on going to some UK show anyway in the event of Reznor not coming here, but after this slap in the face to Irish fans I’m not even sure if I’ll bother.

I was just looking around the forums on the NIN website, and it looks like the whole European tour is going to consist of festival shows.
